Lidia D'Amato, a cherished matriarch, beloved friend, and an extraordinary cook, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Manalapan, New Jersey, at the age of 85.

Born on January 28, 1940, in Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of Giusseppe and Vincenzina Greco. Lidia's early years in Italy shaped her into the warm-hearted and devoted woman she would become, as she carried the love of her family and culture throughout her life.

At the age of 17, Lidia embarked on a new chapter when she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she met the love of her life, Vittorio D'Amato. The couple married in 1959 and embarked on a beautiful journey together, raising three wonderful children. Lidia was a dedicated wife and a loving mother, deeply committed to her family and their well-being. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and the delicious aromas of her cooking. Known for her famous broccoli pizza and potato croquettes, Lidia made every meal an occasion to be cherished.

Beyond her family, Lidia was known for her caring nature and vibrant spirit. Lidia had a love for crocheting, often creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones, and she found joy in simple moments, like having tea with her friends. Shopping was another of her passions, particularly at Macy's and Kohl's, where she delighted in finding treasures for her family and friends.

Her life was a testament to the values of love, family, and tradition. Lidia D'Amato will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, in the delicious meals they will continue to cook in her honor, and in the memories they hold dear.

Lidia is predeceased by her beloved husband Vittorio (2001).

Lidia is survived by her loving children Tom and his wife Marilyn, Joseph and his wife Patricia, and Maria and her husband Joe, by her adoring grandchildren Danny and his wife Ariana, Stephen and his wife Amy, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Victoria, Sabrina, and Joseph, by her cherished great grandson Nathan James, and by her caring sister Rosie.
