Lidio N. Sousa, 83, died peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Alliance Health Care at West Acres in Brockton, after a long period of declining health. Born in Santos, Brazil, he was raised and educated in Brazil. In March of 1962, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Fall River. He married Maria J. Teixeira in 1965, and they moved to Stoughton to raise their family. Lidio worked for Draper Brothers in Canton for many years, retiring at age 65 and later worked for BJ’s in Stoughton for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to Brazilian music.
Lidio was predeceased by his wife Maria J. (Teixeira) Sousa and his daughter Bernadette T. Winslet. He was the brother of Daniel Sousa and Maria Alice Sousa, both of Brazil and the late Nelson Sousa. He is also survived by his goddaughter Lisa Correia Tremura of Madeira, Portugal and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 9-11AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11AM with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
