Lila B. “MaDear” Peeples
Lila B (Johnson) Peeples, age 92, passed on November 26, 2025, in her home surrounded by family in Orlando, Florida. Born on September 16, 1933, in Deatsville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Ada Lee (Myers) Johnson and Reverend John Henry Johnson.
Lila accepted Christ at an early age in Bessemer, Alabama. She was a member of a gospel trio that regularly performed on local radio.
On June 18, 1949, she married the love of her life, Percy Phillip Peeples. Their passionate love lasted 54 years, and together they raised six children.
Affectionately called “MaDear”, Lila will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother for her unconditional love, generosity, and kindness. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Percy, stepsister Mattie Johnson Peeples, stepbrother Matthew Johnson, and sons Phillip and John Peeples.
She is survived by her three daughters: Diane Anderson of Orlando, Florida; Cynthia Alloway of Dallas, Texas; and Tammy Peeples of Toledo, Ohio; one son, Raymond Peeples (Beatrice) of Toledo, Ohio; bonus son, Quinton Pope of Toledo, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren: Demond, Philicia (Lamont), Deron (Mike), Keeahra, Leron, Shanica (Jonathan), Rochelle (Brandon), Zwannah, Antwane (Tre’jsa), Eric (Tiffany), David, Shawntel, Iesha (Chris), Raehna; thirty-one great-grandchildren; many godchildren; extended family, a host of friends, and her cherished fur-babies.
Although Lila is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire generations.
