Lila Mae Wilson-Smith, age 73, passed away peacefully, on October 26, 2025, at home in Mitchell, Oregon. On this day, the world lost an amazing Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
Services will be at the Owyhee Community Church. There will be a viewing for family and friends at 10am followed by her service at 10:30am, Saturday November 8, 2025. Graveside services will follow at the Owyhee Cemetery at 12pm. Remembrance gathering and dinner will follow at the Owyhee Community Church.
Lila was born on August 8, 1952, to Harley and Betty (Hite) Wilson in Sunset Valley, outside of Adrian, Oregon. With Lila being the only daughter, she was raised to be tough and keep up with her brothers, Billy, Darrell, Melvin and Kenny. Lila Graduated from Adrian High School class of 1970 and attended cosmetology college. Lila married Tim Holly and moved to John Day, Oregon in 1969 where he was employed by the United States Forest Service. In 1971, while stationed at the Bear Valley Work Center, their daughter Katrina was born. Soon after their contract was finished, they moved to John Day and bought their first home. She was employed by various companies such as NAPA, Pearls Dress Boutique Shop and the John Day municipal airport before starting her passion in teaching ceramics, "The Holly Hobby Hut." In 1974 they greeted their son Shane in which she called her "miracle baby."
Lila returned to Treasure Valley after their marriage ended. In 1978, she married Mark Morton, a rancher in Nyssa, Oregon where they raised their four children. During that time, they started Piedmontese-Hereford cross cattle, marketing a new product of meat for the restaurant business's called "Oregon Trail Beef."
After their four children were grown, the ranch was dissolved in divorce. Lila and Shane moved to Ontario where she met her next husband Dale Wells, a concrete mason at a venue where Shane was playing music. His employment took them to various places such as Medford, Oregon and Merced, California. After realizing that she couldn't live long distance from her family she divorced and moved to Caldwell, Idaho. She fell in love and married Phillip T. Smith on January 1st, 2001. They enjoyed 8 months and 21 days after marriage until he was killed in an automobile accident. Before his death, Shane, Phil and Lila started Blue Willow Family Home Care assisted living in Caldwell, Idaho. Lila moved with her son Shane to various locations including McCall, Heyburn, Marsing and Meridian Idaho and then to La Grande and Mitchell, Oregon where she lived when she passed.
Lila is survived by her children, Shane Holly of Mitchell; Katrina Holly; Kristy Johnson, Mitchell; four Grandchildren, Kaylee Holly-Aullman, Dillon, MT.; Ciara Womack-Plueard, Cottage Grove; Steven Holly, Mitchell; Dallon Johnston, Meridian; four Great-Grandchildren, Ryann Aullman; Leslie Aullman; Jocelyne Plueard; Ryder Plueard; her brother, Kenneth Wilson, Nyssa, OR. She is also survived by and loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Phil and three brothers.
