Lilliam Lacayo passed at the age of 89. in Sacramento, California on February 1, 2025. Like a lovely Vincent van Gogh work of art, Lilliam, aka Lilly, was born December 27, 1935. She always talked about her family and loving parents fondly. If you knew her personally, you also knew how much she enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, knitting, looking through gardening magazines at bookstores, growing sunflowers, roses and jasmine, having a green thumb for plants, and going shopping store after store. These were pastimes and expressions of her vibrant spirit, her energy and zest for life. But her greatest passion was for butterflies, including hummingbirds, finches, and feeding the ducks at the park. Her first adopted little stray cat was Missyfu, then came Sassy, Yssie-Baby, and Koei. Lilly always petted every dog and even gave them hugs when she saw one. She also enjoyed feeding the giraffes at the zoo periodically. She became a true animal lover in her senior years.

She liked wearing fresh gardenias and other flowers in her hair, although orchids were her favorite. She loved anything pink, roses, Starbucks Pink drink, attire, etc., the color reflected her compassion. Since she was nineteen, she smelled like Nina Ricci's L'Air du Temps fragrance. Lilly would wear a unique perfume for a lifetime after receiving her first bottle gifted by her sister, Vilma. Then again, nothing made her smile like a good cup of coffee, listening to old boleros, and watching Cantinflas comedy movies. And she delighted herself in seeing every new animated Disney movie premiere.

Lilly began her American journey fifty-nine years ago, living in San Francisco and many years in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Miami, Florida, and then back to Sacramento, California, where she resided for the last seventeen years. Among her many jobs, she worked as a night shift machine operator for a record company in Venice, California, a role that would lead to unique encounters. Celebrities like Donna Summers, Mick Jagger, and the group Kiss, to name a few, would drop by the company to observe how their records were made, giving her a glimpse into the entertainment world. Later, she would work an extra job as a weekend housekeeper for Henry Winkler’s parents-in-law. Lilly never shied away from work. The essence of her independence and humbleness showed through her aura and matched her beautiful green eyes when she wore her favorite colors, shades of pink, lavender, and yellow. Lilly's strong work ethic and spirituality influenced her interactions with others. She was known for her kindness and willingness to help, often going above and beyond in her roles. Her belief in Archangel Michael and God was a source of comfort and strength, and she shared this with those around her, spending countless hours praying for the unfortunate.
