I had the privilege to know Lillian for many years as a member of the book club she started. We all became great friends and enjoyed our annual mountain or beach trips together...Lillian was always excited to embark on yet another adventure with the group.
Lillian was a bright light, had what us southerners called "smiling eyes", an ever present twinkle. Lillian was rarely without a smile, her laugh was contagious, when she laughed, everyone ended up laughing too.
She had a presence , an undeniable upbeat attitude and zest for everything she was involved in.
A wonderful cook, snappy dresser, gracious southern hostess who loved seeing her guests enjoy themselves.
Her deep love for family and friends was exemplary, to be admired.
Lillian left an indelible mark on many hearts. Our loss is heavens gain.
This isn´t a goodby my friend, it is an "until we see each other again"...

Lillian
I met Lillian 20 years ago this April when I was attending my first Bookclub meeting. Lillian was always fun to be around and had a positive outlook on life. If you were ever around Lillian for even a short time, you probably heard her say "It´s all good." I learned a lot from Lillian. As a matter of fact, I have a few kitchen utensils that Lillian told me you can´t live without. And she was right. Lillian always had a beautiful table and loved entertaining. I´m glad I was part of that.
Lillian, although you are no longer with us, I will always treasure knowing you, the girls trips and the wonderful conversations we had with you.
Rest in peace until we meet again.
Your friend always,
Roxanne

Goodbyes are never easy, and this one feels especially difficult for me as Lillian was my closest friend during the waning decades of our lives.
But love doesn´t disappear when someone dies.
It lives on in stories, in habits we picked up from them, and in the way they changed us. One of Lillians legacies was the bookclub which she created almost 30 years ago. All members of this club were transformed by the gracious warmth of her hospitality and kind, loving soul.
I will miss my friend Lillian deeply.
And I will remember her always-with love, gratitude, and respect.
