Lillian Denfeld, 95, Schofield, passed away peacefully with her daughter and son-in-law, by her side on Dec. 11, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Lillian was the youngest of 19 children growing up on the family farm in Fenwood, WI. Her family later moving to Wausau, WI. She was an avid reader and you would seldom find her with out a book nearby. She spent countless hours reading to my self and my sisters when we were young. She never lost her love of books.
She was also a great baker and made many delicious deserts and treats and was excited to try a new recipe. She loved and cared for all kinds of animals and had an especially close bond with her Golden Retriever Gracie who preceded her in death.
As a young lady she worked at Kresge’s at the soda fountain and also in the toy department, she also worked at the original Log Cabin restaurant and had many happy and funny stories. She owned and managed a rooming house in Wausau and also later started a cleaning company. Before retiring she also worked at Sears for many years in their office.
My Mom was always my greatest cheer leader and support. I was blessed to have her with me and she will be greatly missed.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Melissa (John) Denfeld-Baerenwald. Besides her parents Otto and Susan Mesalk, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Faye Denfeld, and Sandra Sue (Denfeld) Traka.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Marathon County Humane Society.
