Lillian Harris Obituary

Mrs. Lillian Thigpen Harris, age 92, passed away at her home in Greenville, Fla., on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026.
Lillian was born July 19, 1933, in Greenville, to her parents, Rosa Belle Stanley and Elzie J. Thigpen. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1951 and then worked at Madison County Memorial Hospital, for several years, as a bookkeeper. Lillian married the love of her life, Morgan "Sonny" Harris, on Sept. 14, 1957 and later had two children, Sonya and Jeff.
Lillian was a member of Greenville Methodist Church and was the secretary for George Pridgeon, the principal of Greenville Elementary, where she retired on June 1, 1997.  She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her garden and loved being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie J. and Rosa Belle Thigpen; husband, Morgan "Sonny" Harris; daughter, Sonya Morris; great-grandson, Dakota Hagan; and three brothers: Claude Henry Thigpen, Lark Thigpen and Elzie L. Thigpen.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam Harris, of Monticello; granddaughters, Jasmine Land Hagan and Kailee Morris Jenkins (Jantz); and a special sister-in-law, Carleen Taff Thigpen.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, (850) 973-2258. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Flowers are welcomed. Donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Fla. 32308. Condolences and memories, can be shared to the family at the website, www.beggsfuneral.com.
