Lillian Irene Kent

Lillian Irene Kent, 97, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Hickory Estates in Taylorville. Lillian was born on June 17, 1928, in Litchfield, IL, to the late Clarence Edward and Lillian Jane (McDaniel) Eyman. She exchanged vows with William (Bill) Kinsey Kent. Bill and Irene spent 61 happy and loving years together before he proceeded her in death on July 27, 2009.

In her early years, Irene worked as a switchboard operator at the telephone office in Morrisonville. After she married, she became a full-time wife and mother of 5 children. In later years she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business of W. H. Kent Trucking and worked at the Deli Ranch in Morrisonville. She was also an Avon Representative for more than 25 years.

After residing in Morrisonville for most of her life, Irene moved to Taylorville and spent the last ten years happily residing at Hickory Estates Assisted Living Facility. She enjoyed many friendships there and enjoyed playing Phase 10, bingo, Wii bowling, and many other games as well as going on frequent bus trips.

She is survived by her son: Daniel W. (Louise) Kent of Chatham, IL; daughters: Deborah K. Kent (Jim Olive) of Taylorville, IL; Susan I. Creek (fiancé, Larry Angelo) of Taylorville, IL; Samantha (Dwight) Morgan of Springfield, IL; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister: Mary (Butch) Harper of Assumption, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin H. Kent, a grandson, Kinsey Muffick, two brothers, Warren Eyman and Albert Eyman, and her sister, Norma Jean McKinney.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Hickory Estates for all of the loving care they provided. Also, thanks to Hands of God Hospice and to her very special friend Connie Curtin.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Morrisonville United Methodist Church. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Van Dyke officiating. Inurnment will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery.
