Lillian Matthews "Nell" Killette

Lillian "Nell" Matthews Killette, 88, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born December 18, 1934, in Nash County to the late Guy and Agnes Winstead Matthews. She loved her family, shopping, jewelry, and traveling. Nell worked as a bookkeeper and had accounting jobs in Arizona, South Carolina and North Carolina before retiring from the Baptist Foundation. After retirement she continued to stay busy with part time work. One job she loved was selling jewelry at North Hills Mall. She loved looking for and collecting items from yard sales and secondhand stores, planting flowers and trees and won yard of the month in her neighborhood. In her later years she enjoyed sittings with her dog Ava while Reading the Bible and listening to Christian music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Killette; brothers, Carl, Bobby Lee, and Colin.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Blake Killette (Brenda); daughter, Joy Towler (Paul); brother, Larry Matthews; grandchildren, Sarena Shasteen (Tony), Tara Guida (AJ), Whitney Carpenter (Mark) MacKenzie Towler, Emily Killette. Jared Killette, and Matthew Killette.; eight great-grandchildren. A visitation will be Friday, October 27, 2023, from 12:00-12:45p, with a memorial service to be held in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home at 1:00PM.
