Lillian A. Sauer, age 81, of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away on February 12, 2026, at Chapters Living of Edwardsville. Lillian was born on November 10, 1944, in Kampsville, IL, the daughter of the late Peter & Lillian (Gress) Klunk. Lillian married Anthony A. Sauer on October 22, 1966, in Perryville, MO. Anthony preceded Lillian in death on October 2, 2018, after almost 52 years of marriage. Lillian is survived by her three sons, Anthony Sauer II & wife Cheryl, of Edwardsville, IL, Mark Sauer & wife Chris, of St. Peters, MO, and Dennis Sauer & wife Bridget Tobin, Round Lake, IL; two grandchildren, Anthony Sauer III & husband Daniel Sanchez, of Aurora, IL, and Kate Sauer, of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Bill Klunk, of Kampsville, IL, and Jim Klunk, of Godfrey, IL; and a sister, Sharon Dunn, of Oakland, MI. Besides her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by six siblings, June Puterbaugh, Harold Klunk, Lawrence Klunk, Betty Godar, Fannie Meyer, and Gene Klunk. Lillian worked in food service for many years doing some catering and various schools in St. Louis. She eventually retired from Notre Dame High School in South County. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 19, at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society.
