Lillian P. Shearer of Indianapolis Indiana passed away on December 28, 2023 at the age of 93.
She was born on February 5, 1930 to Dean and Amelia Shugars in Johnstown Pennsylvania. After graduating from Johnstown High School Lillian married the love of her life, James C. Shearer Sr, on June 24, 1950. They raised two children, James C. Shearer Jr and Deanna Sue Shearer Taylor. After moving to Indianapolis Indiana Lillian was employed by the S.S. Kresge Co as a retail clerk for 15 years. She later became a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service retiring in 1997 after serving for 23 years. She was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, James; mother, Amelia; father, Dean; and 9 siblings. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry D. Taylor; great grandson, Payton A. Wilson and great granddaughter, Tonsiana Wilson.
She is survived by her children, James Shearer Jr (Joyce Andrews) and Deanna Taylor.
Lillian has 7 grandchildren – Anil Jeswami; James C. Shearer III; Sean Shearer; Lara Shearer Findlayson (James); Brandy Taylor Hughes (Mike); Misty Taylor Hatcher (Jason); Nicole Taylor McIntire (James).
She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren – Erica McBride Okey (Levi); James Taylor (Piper); Taylor Taylor (Christina); Ashley Hughes Helton (Thad); Logan Vidrich; Haley McIntire; Cody Hughes; Aaron Hughes; Isla Findlayson and Rowan Findlayson
Lillian has 5 great great grandchildren including Oliver Okey; Jonathan Helton; Adrienne Helton; Brett Vidrich and Natalie Lawrence.
She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 10:30 am to noon on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North Funeral Center. Her funeral service will be held at noon with entombment to follow at Washington Park North Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, James Shearer Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Alzheimer's/Dementia Research Center of your choice, Shriners Hospitals for Children or other charitable organization.
