Lillian "Lynne" Sheets

Lillian (Lynne) Ann Gravely Sheets, age 87 of Taylor's, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Lynne was born July 12, 1930 in Brevard, North Carolina to George and Nancy McKelvey Gravely. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Richard Allen Sheets, Sr. and her sister Carolyn Gravely Clodfelter. After completing high school, she attended University of North Carolina Women's College in Greensboro and graduated with a degree in Institutional Management. She married Richard Allen Sheets, SR in 1953 and together had three children. After traveling around with Richard's job they settled in the Greenville, South Carolina area in 1960. Lynne returned to school and received a B.S. from Furman University and eventually completed her Masters Degree from University of South Carolina. She worked with the Greenville County Schools for 23 years teaching First and Third grade. Upon retirement she volunteered with the Greenville Literacy Association. Lynne was active with her church, Francis Asbury UMC, and in the community. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, a Girl Scout leader, church basketball coach and softball player. She is survived by three children, Allen (Adelia) Sheets of Lenior City, Tennessee, Robert Sheets of Port St. Lucie of Florida and Anne (Jay) Wilson of Taylors, South Carolina. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Ellyn Sheets of Brentwood, Tennessee, Harrison (Mariah) Sheets of Kingston, Tennessee, Lindsey and Jake Wilson of Taylors, South Carolina; her sister Jeanne Marie Gravely Waggoner (Ed) of Rockville, Maryland; niece Annette (Toots) Clodfelter Smith (Larry) of Charleston, SC and 1 nephew William Roland Waggoner (Daphney) of Fredericksburg, VA. The family would like to thank the many people of NHC of Greenville who cared for her during the past 13 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenville Literacy Association. A graveside service for Lynne will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery in Brevard, North Carolina.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
