“Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Prayer Warrior
and Servant of the Most High God”
Lillian Wiley, also affectionately known as “Bobbie” made her transition from her earthly body to her
eternal heavenly body on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Lillian was born May 5, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, to the Late Charlie and Jannie West, as the fourth
oldest child and the second oldest daughter. She attended South Side High School and later retired from
the Newark Board of Education school system where she worked as a Teachers School Aide for 25 years.
Lillian’s, spiritual journey began at an early age. She was baptized at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church,
Newark, New Jersey. Over the years, she became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Colonia,
and actively participated in the Mothers Determined to Pray Ministry, at the First Baptist Church,
Lincoln Gardens, New Jersey.
In 2007, she relocated to Delaware with her daughter Paulette and Son-in-Love Raymond. On January 6,
2008, she joined as an active member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was involved with the Missionary
and the Super Sixties Ministries. She also participated in the Golden Ages at the Resurrection Center in
Wilmington, Delaware. Lillian knew the Lord, and the Lord was wrapped within her. She was a woman
that prayed daily and knew that prayer would work everything out.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Carzell Wiley; her parents, Charlie and Jannie West, eight
siblings: Roosevelt West, Ceola West-Reid, Joseph West, Charles West, Jr., Irma Lee West, James West,
Samuel Lewis West, and Sharon West-Gilmer.
She leaves behind a family legacy of love, faith, wisdom, sharing and caring for others. Surviving her are
her eldest son, Martin K. Wiley, daughter Paulette Wiley Taylor (Raymond) and youngest Son Victor C.
Wiley (Judy).
She also leaves behind to carry the legacy of love and prayer, five Grandchildren; Monica Love (Eugene),
Ameer Wiley, Nickia Wright, Shannan Wiley and Isaiah Davis. She prayed for her eleven Great-
grandchildren and her five Great-Great Grandchildren.
She is also survived by her dear Sister Annie N. West Koontz and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins,
relatives, and friends, including; Gwendolyn Joyner, Doreen Wiley, Beverly Wright, the entire Taylor
Family, Cary Hines, Prayer Partner Betty Williams, and the daughters of Pilgrim who will miss those
smiles, words of wisdom, sweet hugs filled with joy, comfort and with love, and those meetings in the
ladies rest room, LOL.
Lillian always encouraged others to be kind, to pray and wait on the Lord. She had such a calming voice
and could uplift your spirits with just a conversation. Her favorite quote: “Prayer Changes Things.” This
sweet Angel of God will truly be missed.
