ABINGDON, VIRGINIA – Lincoln Leon Selfe, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 12, 2024.
He was born in
Castlewood, Virginia, the son of the late Francis Leon and Margaret "Louellen" Cox Selfe. He was preceded in death by one brother Fred Selfe; one sister, Mary Margaret Selfe Leonard Baily; and his beloved granddaughter, Tamara Michelle Chafin.
Leon worked for Pittston Coal Group for thirty-eight years and retired as manager of Data Processing. He loved hunting and fishing with his father-in-law, David Scott Greer. He was a charter member of Lake Bonaventure Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. He also loved coaching Little League Baseball and high school golf teams and was a role model for the many young men and women that he coached. He was a devout Christian whom many people loved. He was a great example of a man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Selfe; one son, Lincoln "Link" Selfe and wife, Tonyia; one sister, Patsy Fode and husband, Elmer; one grandson, Brandon Chafin; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Scarlett Chafin; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Funeral Services for Lincoln Leon Selfe will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel,
Castlewood, Virginia, with Pastor Woody Scott and Rev. Marvin Cain officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park,
Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Joe Reed, Brandon Chafin, Vince Hess, Johnny Hess, Kenny Bostic, and Pat Farley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Ring, Ernie Long, Bobby Hill, and Jim Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Castlewood Funeral Home,
Castlewood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morning Star Full Gospel Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 988,
