Linda Jean (Sides) Barksdale, born October 28, 1949, peacefully met her Savior in the early morning of October 24, 2025. in her home in Starkville, Mississippi.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents; Floyd Rudolph Sides and Myrtle Files Sides; by her Mother-in-Law, Helen Barksdale; and by her Sister-in-Law, Cissy Lansford. She is survived and missed by her loving husband, Kenneth Bruce Barksdale, and by her children, Lori (Mark) Yeatman and Kenneth (Emily) Barksdale Jr. She is remembered and cherished by her five grandchildren: Alexandra (Derrick) Herrin, Jacob Yeatman, Stella Barksdale, Sadie Barksdale, and Sailor Barksdale, and one great-grandchild, Parker Yeatman.
In the short 75 years that she spent on Earth, Linda touched many lives. She was a faithful wife, mother and friend. She served others tirelessly without recognition. Linda was married to Ken Barksdale, the love of her life, for 58 years. They are a true testament to a life of love and commitment. Linda served Starkville Public Schools for 29.5 years in food service before retiring. She always took joy in seeing the faces of students come through her lunch line, and reveled in sharing a smile with whomever she could. Linda was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church for 21 years where she served her local body through driving the church van, providing for meals, teaching Sunday school and Discipleship Training, and loving others with the love of Christ. She genuinely loved her church, which was like family to her.
Linda enjoyed cooking for others, "going on jobs" and fishing with Ken, and spending time with her friends and family. She always opened her home to those in need and always had food for an extra mouth at the table.
Linda Jean Barksdale's life was marked by faithfulness and service to others. She lived her salvation out day-by-day. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held at Welch's Funeral Home in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation will be from
Noon to 2pm on Monday, October 27th. The funeral will follow at 2pm. Graveside Services will be held at Adaton Baptist Church, Starkville, Mississippi.
