Linda Adell Crews Baxter, age 77, of Mt. Zion, Georgia, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1947, in Tyus, Georgia, to the late Lewis Ardell Crews and Bernice Corene Denney Crews.
Linda proudly graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1965. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Harold Leonard Baxter, in 1966. Together, they shared 43 wonderful years until Harold's sudden passing in 2010, a loss from which Linda never fully recovered. Over the years, Linda worked at Marion Hosiery Mills, the Mt. Zion Elementary School Lunchroom, Sewell's Manufacturing in Temple, Wal-Mart in Villa Rica and Bremen. She retired as a Door Greeter from Wal-Mart in Bremen after 18 years of devoted service.
She enjoyed drinking a good cup of coffee while playing a hand of solitaire, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, doing her Penny Press Search-A-Word Puzzles, and watching General Hospital. She loved her family, her church, and her friends deeply. As a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church, Linda cherished her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. She firmly believed that the Lord would heal her cancer-and He did. Linda adored her three granddaughters and her new grandson and took immense pride in all their accomplishments. Above all, she especially treasured her little fur baby, Sophie. The Mt. Zion community will miss seeing Mrs. Linda on the front porch of the little house where she grew up, watching the birds and counting the cars going up and down the road, but praise the Lord, she is in Heaven, rejoicing with her Savior!
Linda is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Lewis & Bernice Crews; her loving husband, Harold L. Baxter; her daughter, Tracie Lynn Baxter; her sister & brother-in-law, Sara Elizabeth & A.L. Nixon; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Adams & Deborah Adams; and her brothers-in-law, Ray Baxter & Mickey Baxter.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lisa & Anthony Puckett; grandchildren: Haley Baxter, Meagan & Nathan Camp & Anna Puckett; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Troy & Pat Johnson, Barbara Reginstein, Vickie Stephens, Richard Adams, Mary Jo Baxter, Jerry Baxter & Melinda Baxter; special nieces & nephews, Melissa & Tommy Robinson, Michael & Ginger Nixon and Amy & Tony Moore.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Linda's life on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Martin and Hightower Funeral Home, with Bro. Anthony Puckett and Bro. Danny Terry officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Randall Moore officiating and the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Nixon, Tommy Robinson, Jeff Ashmore, Steve Puckett, John A. Cramer, Vic Folds, Joe Gramling, and Chris Lanning.
A special thank you to the Harmony Baptist Church family, the Hightower Family Funeral Homes family, and the Mt. Zion Community for the support shown to their family during this difficult time.
Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Baxter family.
