Linda Burke, longtime Guymon resident passed away following a short illness, Sunday morning, September 21, 2025 at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo Texas.

The daughter of Joann (Thrall) and Jack Hankla, Linda was born in Guymon, Oklahoma on November 8, 1952. While growing up, her family lived in Great Bend, Kansas and Pampa, Texas before returning to Guymon.

She graduated from Guymon High School in 1971. She was blessed to be part of a high school class that remain very close, even to this day. Linda went on to attended Panhandle State University during the fall semester in 1971.

Linda was united in marriage to Gary Burke on May 24, 1982 in Clayton, New Mexico. Linda was a girl scout and her mother was her scout leader when living in Great Bend, Kansas. Her family moved back to Guymon when she was in the 7th grade. In 1972 Linda went to work as a telephone operator for GTE. Several years later started her career with Production Credit Association doing accounting. She stayed active with her class of '71 working on reunions and helped to make them special events. She, along with many other classmates, was also involved in organizing the annual Jim Hitch Memorial Golf tournament, which today promotes so many young golfers. Everyone who knew her, loved her.

Linda loved all animals but her deep love was for cats; her cats, strays, fostering and volunteering with animal rescues.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ivan Hankla, and infant sister, Patti Sue.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary Burke, three sisters-in-law, Di Hankla, of Guymon, Debbie Hornsby, of Spearman, Texas, and Kenda Burke of Terrell, Texas, brother-in-law Steve Burke and spouse Mary of Arlington, Washington, niece Vanessa and spouse, Jeremy Carman, grandniece Lillian Carman all of Guymon, nephew Chris Hornsby, and partner Chris Aguero of New Haven, Connecticut. Survivors also include cousins Andrew Thrall and spouse Pat, of Amarillo Texas and Luain Hensel of Denver, Colorado.

The Burke family request memorials in lieu of flowers be sent to: Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough, Oklahoma with Pastor Nick Gift officiating. Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
