Linda Kay Carnes, 74, of Seymour, passed away at Schneck Medical Center on July 8, 2025. She was born to Ralph Stichter and Gladys Wead Stichter in Troy, Ohio. She married Cody Carnes on May 2, 1975, in Piqua, Ohio. She and Cody moved to Seymour in 1981, where they became dedicated members of the community.
Linda was a 1969 graduate of Troy High School in Troy, Ohio, and retired as a Customer Service Representative from Home Products International.
Linda spent her life active in the community in many different facets. From leading Girl Scout troops, PTA groups, and helping with multiple sporting events, you could always find her cheering others on. In later years, she expanded her horizons to support mission trips to the Dominican Republic. She was a very proud and dedicated member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Seymour, where many looked forward to seeing her serving Reubens at the Oktoberfest. In addition to sorority, Linda also enjoyed her time with ladies' bunco and euchre club nights.
Above all else, Linda loved her family. Whether it was time at home around the swimming pool or taking a family vacation, being with family was her happy place. Linda was always up for an adventure; from 4-wheeling to hiking to find waterfalls, she was there and smiling! Like most grandmothers, she spoke with great pride and admiration of her grandkids' accomplishments.
Also a lover of animals and flowers, Linda didn't turn away a foster pup or a trip to a greenhouse.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Michael) Hauf and Staci (Roger) Estes; four grandchildren, Cody (Hannah Surber) Estes, Korey (Alexia Rae Rieckers) Estes, Kiley Estes, and Kelsey Estes; one great-granddaughter, Hazel Rae Estes; and one brother, Jerry Stichter; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cody Carnes; her parents, Ralph Stichter and Gladys Wead Stichter; and brother, Bruce Stichter.
