Linda Faye Wright Cook, 82, of Elon, NC, passed away on Friday, August 15th, 2025, at AuthoraCare Hospice Home, surrounded by those who loved her most, after a short time of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Wright Sr. and Audrey Layton Wright. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Leroy “Temp” Wright Jr. and Anthony Layton “Tony” Wright; her sister, Cindy Wright Dodrill and her lifelong companion, Ira Ross “Stumpy” Walton. Linda is survived by her sons, Larry Randall Cook of Gibsonville and David Michael Cook and wife Candi of Burlington; grandchildren, Holly Lynn Hilton of Burlington, Christina Cook Roof and husband Ricky of Burlington, Jordan Randall Cook of Gibsonville, and Bailey Renee Cook of Burlington; great-grandchildren, Brycen Alexander Madren, Harper Elizabeth Roof, Willowdean Faye Roof, and Eleanor Rose Roof; first cousin, Pricilla McCant; and dear friends, Lou Asmuth, Donna Glosson, and Mary Robertson; as well as a special brother-in-law, Mike Dodrill.
Linda graduated from Graham High School in 1961 and was a member of Club ’61; a group of her closest high school friends that met for lunch and reminisced about the past. She served as both the Head Registrar and Student Services Manager for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 35 years. She was an avid UNC Tarheel basketball fan and enjoyed her gambling sprees in Cherokee with her friends. In her later years, Linda was the office manager for the Buckhorn Flea Market in Mebane, NC. She loved making her rounds and interacting with customers and vendors at the flea market. In her free time, she was often found with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Mike Dodrill with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at her residence.
The family requests, with gratitude, that donations be made in her name to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice), 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC, 27215.
