Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. - West ReadingLinda Lea Day, a dedicated teacher, community volunteer, wife, and mother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 23rd, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 29, 1944, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, to the late Ronald and Gladys McIntosh, Linda lived a life of grace as a teacher, a loving wife, and an extraordinary mother and grandmother.
A Legacy of Literacy and Leadership
Linda's professional life was a testament to her belief in the power of education. She graduated high school from Oak Grove Academy in Maine (1962). Linda earned her Bachelor of Science from North Texas State University (1967) and her Master of Education from Millersville State College (1981). She taught in many locations around the US, including Minetto, NY, where she founded and directed the Minetto Nursery School. After moving to PA, she dedicated over 30 years to the Wilson School District. Linda taught several grades before becoming a reading specialist. As a Reading Specialist, Linda instructed a Reading Recovery Program that helped students who were behind catch up and succeed in their grade level. She had so much patience and loved helping kids read; She often volunteered during retirement to continue helping kids improve their literacy. Beyond the classroom, Linda was deeply invested in her community. After her many moves, she was a part of the local Newcomers Club, where she welcomed many to the area with her characteristic warmth and grace. Her biggest community service was with the Junior League as a Sustainer for many years.
A Life Full of Happiness
Linda was a woman of many passions. As a child, she found joy in horseback riding and figure skating. In her adult years, she was an avid skier, kayaker, and hiker. At home, she was an accomplished cook who loved hosting friends in her Wine Club and Bridge Club. Despite her many travels around the world, like China and Australia, and her career in Pennsylvania, her heart belonged to Popham Beach, Maine. Having spent time there every summer of her life, it remained her ultimate sanctuary-a place of peace and lifelong memories from riding her horse bareback on the beach as a girl to beach time with her family and friends.
Family: Her Greatest Joy
While her professional accomplishments were many, Linda's greatest pride was her family. She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother, known for her support, wisdom, and love. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and caring for her four grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of over 60 years, Jonathan Day. Her legacy lives on through her children, Galen Day (Christine) of Paoli, Pa., and Anne Angle (Casey) of Newtown Square, Pa., and her four cherished grandchildren: Aubrey Angle, Lea Day, Evan Angle, and Avery Day. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Gladys McIntosh, and her siblings, Gail, Gloria, and Donald.
