Linda Ann Dixon

Linda A. Dixon born March 7, 1949, to Robert and Marcellene Massey in Springfield, Ohio was the oldest of the “Massey Girls”. Growing up Linda was called upon to help take care of the house and keep an eye on and watch over her younger sisters Bonnie and Cheryl, with some assistance from Jaynie. The responsibility of caring for a home and children fostered her desire to be a wife and a mother. Linda always wanted to be a wife but most importantly, a mother. She was blessed with two sons, Tarik and Da’Wan. She prided herself on ensuring her boys had a nice clean home, food to eat, and looked their best. How you showed up for the world was important to Linda, not just for her and her children but she planted that in her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Linda was the one who made sure the clothes were ironed, the face was clean and greased. Girls had to have their earrings, dresses, and purses. She was a Lady. 

Linda worked hard to maintain her family and her home. She also worked hard on her job. She was dedicated and loyal to whatever role or assignment she was given. Her ability to manage her home rolled over to her ability to be an outstanding worker and leader at any company she worked for, especially Cryters Manufacturing, where she retired. Linda’s most rewarding job outside of being a mother and grandmother was working as a home health aid where she was able to serve others. She found honor in helping others in areas that she was proficient at. She would make sure they were fed properly, make sure their house was tidy and clean. She helped schedule appointments and made sure they arrived on time. She assisted in managing their finances and that they were linked to the resources they needed. Most importantly, she treated them with dignity and kindness. 

Linda was blessed to be a grandmother of 10 and a great-grandmother of 2. She loved the title and role of being a grandmother. She enjoyed finding new spots to display pictures of her grandkids. She would remember birthdays and Christmas. At her house in the room appropriately coined the “ Christmas Room” she would ensure that there was a gift for them all. No matter how big or small. She has a special relationship with Tavion and Tashiona who spent part of their childhood, living, learning, and gleaning from her. Her desire for her grandkids..was that they grow up and live successful lives and find joy in this gift called life.

Linda passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, in Springfield, Ohio. Linda is survived by her son, Tarik (Chelsa) Cameron of Columbus, Ohio, sister Cheryl Massey of Springfield, Ohio and Jaynie Holt of Columbus, Ohio, Uncle William Evans of Springfield, Ohio, special friend and partner of 36 years Brent Stille, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces and special friend Stephanie Watkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Da’Wan Dixon, sister, Bonnie Massey, and two nephews. 

She was so many things to so many people. She was a provider and a protector. A mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a lifelong companion, and a friend. Her presence will be missed but the gifts of love, kindness, work ethic, and a sense of family, will forever live on.
