Linda Hughes Dotson, 76, of Nebo, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 29, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on November 15, 1949 to the late C.L. Hughes and Loretta Rogers Brandon.
Linda was a member of Sunrise Independent Baptist Church in Morganton where she loved serving the Lord and the church in whatever role she could. She retired from Baxter Healthcare following 35 years of faithful service. A kind and caring lady, Linda enjoyed volunteering with hospice and local nursing facilities. She also loved working in the flower gardens. Her family was her pride and joy, and she loved each one dearly. She especially cherished time spent with them at Lake James.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Claude Dotson of the home; five children, Leighann Burleson of Marion, Kelly Fox of Georgia, Robin Dotson of Asheville, Susie Pine (Kevin) of Swannanoa, and Tony Dotson (Gina) of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Scotty Burleson of Asheville, Tyler Burleson (Sarah) of Marion, April Cutshall of Asheville, Maddie Ramirez (Jimmy) of Georgia, and Matthew Cutshall (Rachel) of Asheville; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jan Williams (Larry) of Texas; her aunt, Lena Barnes of Tennessee; and her cousin, Sarah Jane Smith (Joe) of Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunrise Independent Baptist Church, located at 1631 Jamestown Road in Morganton with Pastors Craig Price and Jeff Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
