Linda Lee Fischer (née Krecker), 83, of Bensenville, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, reuniting with her husband of over 60 years, James (Jim) Fischer. Linda is survived by sons Michael (Sue) and Richard (Chris) Fischer; daughters Donna (Don) Wilbur, Dianne (Mike) Falco, and Deb (Jason) Baumann. Grandmother of Jim (Sara), David, and Danny Fischer, Tom, Kaitlyn, and Mary Fischer, Natalie (Colin) Hohman and Zachary Wilbur, Michael, Melanie, and Mark Falco, and Ava Baumann; Great-grandmother of Colton, Kailey, and Lainey Fischer, and Dorothy Hohman; Dear sister of the late Robert (Jane) and Thomas (Sue) Krecker. Linda, daughter of the late Evelyn and John Krecker, grew up in Bensenville and attended Fenton High School.
Linda and Jim were married on August 12, 1961, beginning their life together with a honeymoon in the Wisconsin Dells and many return visits to their favorite spot, Ishnala Supper Club. Over the decades, they made countless trips to their beloved cottage in Wisconsin, creating more than fifty years of memories with family and friends.
Linda was a devoted partner with Jim in their well-drilling business, always answering the phone with her familiar greeting, "Fischers!"
At the cottage, she and Jim fell into their cherished routine: Linda "taking care of the girls" inside while Jim was outside, likely cutting down a tree or starting a fire with the boys. Days with Linda were filled with simple joys - Yahtzee games around the table, a break for soap operas while puzzles took shape, freshly painted nails, and a cake baking in the oven.
She was the heart of the home and loved hosting gatherings, especially as her family grew. Christmas was her season to shine; Linda transformed the house from top to bottom with festive décor and always had a bowl of her famous holiday Party Pink Pineapple Punch ready to share (see recipe below).
What she cherished most was visiting with family. Whether putting on a pot of coffee, celebrating milestones, or simply sitting together in conversation, she found joy in connection. Her presence made every visit feel meaningful. She listened without judgment, loved without condition, and supported without hesitation.
To her twelve grandchildren, she was simply Grandma - keeper of the best snacks and sweetest treats. Scooby-Doo fruit snacks, push-up popsicles, and banana milkshakes, offered with love and a smile. Halloween goodie bags and easter baskets, both including a $2 bill, were always prepared for each grandchild.
Linda faced Parkinson's disease with remarkable strength, supported every step of the way by her family and the compassionate caregivers, Priscilla, Jazmin, and Sofia, who cared so deeply for both her and Jim.
Linda's life was a beautiful testament to love, devotion, and quiet grace. To know her was to feel at home, wrapped in her unforgettable hugs, guided by her wisdom, and welcomed into the comforting spaces she tended with care. She listened deeply and laughed often, especially while spending hours on the phone with loved ones. Her legacy endures in the hearts she shaped, the lives she touched, and the many moments she brightened simply by being herself.
She will be missed deeply, remembered always, and loved forever.
