Linda Lee Franklin

Linda Lee Franklin, 83 of Liberty passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 1, 1942, the daughter of Viola (Clark) and Urban Schuler.

On May 26, 1962, Linda married John Dale Franklin of Liberty. They were married for 62 years before John's passing in 2024.

Linda was a devote Christian and long-time member of the Liberty Church of Nazarene, where she spent more than 40 years as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. Linda enjoyed journaling, flowers an old gospel music. She also found joy in supporting her granddaughters at their sporting events.

In the late 70s and early 80s, Linda along with her cousin Rose would sing gospel music on a live radio broadcast in Connersville every Sunday. They would sing at church and local nursing homes to spread their love of Christ.

Linda's greatest passion in life was taking care of children; affectionately known as Grandma Linda. She devoted the majority of her life caring for children in her home. In 2003 her passion became her career as she spent the next 17 years working for the Union County Head Start Program. Above all Linda cherished her family, her grandkids and great grandkids were the light of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Franklin; son, Jeff (Kim) Franklin; five granddaughters, Kayla (Shawn) Franklin-Sargent, Emily (Lawrence) Schwab, Allison (Forrestt) Franklin-Rihm, Danielle (Jon) Dathe and Dollie Steele; two grandsons, Dakota and Isaac; five great grandchildren, Naomi, Oliver, Keegan, Chloe and Amythst. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Nancy (Cecil) Brown; two brothers, Randall (Sue) Schuler and Donnie (Barb) Schuler; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her sweet husband, Johnny D, she was preceded in death by her brother, Denver Bowman.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N. Main St., Liberty, Indiana 47353. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Dana Hadden officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
