Stacy, Sarabecca and Rachel,
I am so sorry that I could not be there to help comfort you in your most greatest time of loss. She was a wonderful cousin and I loved her dearly. She was always in my thoughts and prayers during her horrible suffering illness. i want to go back and tell you what she meant to me. When Sarabecca was a toddler I would come down for a couple of weeks during the summer and spend time with the three of you. Becca, you were so sweet and would ALWAYS wake me up gibber-jabbering in your crib. It was during these vacations in my high school years that she taught me how to sew, to make dollhouses and to play tennis. Then Rachie came along and you all would come up to Winks for the summers. That was so fun to have all of us together, me and Grammie, Aunt Sara and you all. Then all the fun when my boys came along. She would still bring up the time I had to hose Tyler off after a potty acciden! Up at Aunt Sara's was where Ty learned to swim and Austin too. I will cherish those memories forever and I will miss her dearly. She will always be on my mind. I think right now Gram, Aunt Sara and Mom are having a great reunion sipping Old Granddad and maybe a mint julep too! Maybe some scrabble thrown in too! Now we have 3 angels watching over us, especially you three. Much love to you all and God Bless. Rest in peace Sass, I will miss you. xoxo

To "Mrs. Garrett's" Family,
I was one of Linda's students at James River Schools in the mid 70s, and I remember her so fondly. She and my mother, Lorraine Abernathy, were both teachers at JRS, and Linda remained her friend for years through Chesterfield Cty Schools.
Coach Garrett was the first coach I ever had and she has a special place in my heart. She taught me about inclusiveness, teamwork, laughter and grace. She also gave me a nickname - Swampy -- that to this day makes me smile.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Linda was a remarkable person and I'm glad to have gotten to spend four years at JRS learning from her.

Dear Stacey and daughters,
Linda and I were just teenagers when we first met, we're the same age and got along right from the start. She was such a fun person and always happy. Even through her illness over the years she was upbeat and positive always playing down her problems and concerned about everyone else. Even though my marriage to her cousin "Widdy" ended 27yrs ago, we have talked and seen each other over the years. Things were always the same with us even with the lost years...laughing, being naughty, being "us". God Bless you all, helping you through this terribly difficult time and know that others loved her very much. Sharon Gregg Lawler, Jacksonville, Fl

Dear Stacy, Girls, and Family,
Greggie was dear to all of us at Hening. Her beauty and her since of humor blessed our days with her. Like a pebble makes a ripple on the water that extends outward, so was Greggie's personality and spirit to all that knew her at Hening and beyond. Greggie's life was a gift and an example to those she came in contact with, and her memory will forever stay alive in our hearts.
With heartfelt thoughts and prayers,
Beth Richardson

Dear Stacey and family,
I was married to Skip Gregg until 1983 and I remember Linda so well. I am so sorry for your loss...she was such a vibrant person, I can close my eyes and see her now up at Aunt Sarah's house. I met you too Stacey...and the girls too...it's been years, but I remember well. From what I read, your wife and mother touched many lives and was a Christian, so I know where she is now. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I lost my dad at the same age and it leaves a hole in your heart. Know that you and your family are in my prayers. With deepest sympathy, Jan Hedreen Gregg

Stacy, Sarabecca, and Rachel,
Greggie was so loved and admired by so many, including me! I sat behind her in choir at SPC for many years, and always loved her keen sense of humor, AND the back of her head! (I loved her hair!)
A seemingly small act of kindness to me about 10 years ago meant a great deal to me. She gave me a book that helped me through a challenging time, and I will always appreciate it.
I couldn't believe her energy level...teaching athletics during the school year and again for Bible School for so many years. I will always remember a time I came over to the house to find Greggie on a ladder painting the siding!! Unbelievable!
I am so sorry for your loss. I miss her!

Stacy,Sarabecca and Rachel,
I can't begin to express my feelings. Sass was such a friend to me.The fun times we had in Mendenhall. I remember making mud pies under the steps behind the Post Office.Sass was three years younger than I, but she taught me how to tie my shoes, born teacher. I have so many memories and they are all good. I think she was three when we met. I will always have a place in my heart for her, I can't believe she is gone.
My thoughts and prayers will always be with all of you.

Dear Stacy, Sarabecca & Rachel,
Regretfully, I had not seen or spoken to Greggie in quite a long time, since I left SPC nearly 20 years ago, but she and your entire family were some of my VERY favorite people there. She was always ready and willing to help in any capacity she could when precious "little" Sarabecca and Rachel were in "my" children's choirs at Salisbury. I had occasionally run into Sarabecca and always asked about Stacy, Greggie and Rachel, but hadn't seen her in a while either. I'm so sorry that I didn't know that she had been so ill. I was shocked and deeply saddened to know of her passing. The many children that she taught in school and the countless children that were fortunate enough to benefit from her expertise AND enthusiasm in Vacation Bible School are part of her legacy. I will keep you all in my prayers as you go through this difficult time.
With sincere sympathy and love,
Shirley (previously "Nunnally") Jones

Dear Garrett Family,
I worked with Greggie for many years at Hening and she made EVERY day a happy one for me. Her sense of humor was contagious & she loved her students. All who knew her were very lucky people.

Rachel,
I keep thinking about what a great day we all had in May of 2000, when our families shared together our excitement and joy of our daughters graduating from Lynchburg College. Over a wonderful lunch we chatted about the adventures that our girls had had together the last 4 years and tried to guess what the future might hold for them. There was much to talk about. Your mom was so proud of you and your accomplishments and exited about making plans for Becca's upcoming wedding. It seems like only a few days ago. That is the day I am going to remember and hold in my heart. It was a wonderful day.
Rachel, please know our thoughts and prayers are with you, Becca and your dad. We will see you on Friday.

Even though we will not be with you during the Memorial Service on Friday, please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to you during your time of bereavement. I worked with "Greggie" at Hening for (3) years and I must say that she was one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. May God be with each of you and know that Greggie was loved by everyone that had the opportunity to know her.

Stacy:
Open your eyes and look around you. You need but a single glance to become aware that you are surrounded by friends and family that are countless in number. Greggie was matchless in beauty and precious to all who knew her. Unfortunately, I didn't know her the way others did, but through YOU Greggie became my FRIEND. May God continue to bless you, Sarabecca and Rachel today and always.
Your friend, Paulette L. Jones

Dear Stacy, Becca and Rachel,
Jack and I will miss Greggie so much. We will miss our "over the fence" backyard chats that made us laugh so much. You know we told her that she could make money on the side with a standup comedy routine. Keep you memories of her close to your heart and she will always be with you. We are here for you guys for whatever you need. God bless you and your family...
