Linda J. Hoffert (Wanamaker), 78, passed away at her home on November 23, 2025, while fighting a short illness. She was predeceased by her dearly missed husband Harry in 2014. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage.
She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Paul and Hilda (Schleicher) Wanamaker. She was raised in Slatington, Pennsylvania, with her brother Franklin and sisters Janice and Jane. Linda is survived by her two sons, their wives, and five grandchildren.
She worked for many years at Wetherhold and Metzger in Allentown and Reading, as well as J.C. Penney in Muhlenberg Township. She was a devoted wife who cheered with her husband for the Eagles and Phillies. She also was an attentive mother who encouraged and helped her children in their pursuits in school, music, sports, and scouting.
Linda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fleetwood for many years and most recently was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She held her faith deeply and cherished memories of her mother signing hymns while playing the piano.
Those who knew her well will not forget her independent and robust spirit. She enjoyed working outside to maintain her land and tend to her pets. Not too long ago, she could handle a chainsaw to cut down small trees. With fortitude, she endured many power outages at her rural home for days and during extreme weather.
Visiting Grandma on the mountain always was an adventure her grandchildren never will forget. Linda also worked tirelessly to keep her Pennsylvania German heritage alive and well in the family through its food, language, and culture. Mach’s gut, Mutter.
