Linda Sue Holtz, 82, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Kenneth Hunt and the late Martha Frank Hunt of Zionsville, Indiana.
Linda dedicated her life to the teaching profession, influencing countless students at both the junior high and high school levels. Her career was marked by a commitment to education that spanned various roles, including teaching Spanish and serving as the yearbook sponsor at John Hancock Academy, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year twice. She even had the exceptional opportunity to teach in England at a D.O.D.S. School.
Her commitment to education was further demonstrated through her role in teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Alongside her academic contributions, Linda took on various professional roles, including banking and developing educational curriculum for adults, showcasing her diverse skills and willingness to support individuals of all ages in their learning journeys.
Linda's impact extended beyond the classroom; she was deeply involved in her various communities. As the Knitting Coordinator at the First Presbyterian Church, she shared her passion for knitting and fostered a sense of togetherness among its members. Her spirit of generosity and creativity made her a beloved figure, as she was known for her funny, smart demeanor and her heart of gold.
Additionally, Linda contributed her time and energy to the Girl Scouts, where she had an unforgettable experience attending an international jamboree in Switzerland. These experiences shaped her into a dynamic individual who was always on the go, ready to embrace life's adventures and offer support to others.
She is survived by her loving husband Colonel Daniel Dwight Holtz; daughter, Laura (Darren) Gibbon of Durham, NC; son, John "Jack" Daniel Holtz of Burke, VA; Linda's brother, Glenn (Ellen) Hunt, niece Laurel and nephew Jonathan (Liz) of San Francisco, CA.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.
The family will have a Memorial service on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM for visitation and 11:00 AM for the service at the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, GA. Inurnment will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA.
