Linda Jane (Popejoy) Jones, of Groesbeck, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at age 70, after many years of an extended illness.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Richard Williams of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Hogan Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Jones, Jacob Jones, Dillan Terry, Jacob Gillespie, Nathaniel Mullis and Orlando Oviedo.
Linda was born March 23, 1954, to James Arthur Popejoy and Nelda Jean (Wilson) Popejoy in Groesbeck. The family moved from Groesbeck to Italy when she was in 3rd. grade, and then to Burleson where she graduated from high school in 1972.
Linda was the mother of four girls and as well as taking care of them she worked up until suffering a severe illness that affected her ability to work outside the home.
Linda was united in marriage with Bobby Karl Jones on November 17, 2009, in Groesbeck, where they have made their home for the rest of her life. Once Bobby and Linda married, their family was united with her four children and his four children, the youngest two of whom she raised in their home. Linda loved her large family of many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Linda was raised by her family in the Church of Christ. She was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers, and loved to watch NCIS, streaming it and watching continually, which helped her endure her long confinement with her illness.
Linda was preceded in death by her father and mother and brother, Larry Popejoy.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Jones of Groesbeck; four daughters, Christy Cooper of Mexia, Brandy Harrison of Groesbeck, Courtney Abbott of Groesbeck, and Lora Kennedy and husband Scott of Mexia; stepdaughters, Mindy McGlone and husband John of Waco, and Kasee Jones and husband Malaki of Kosse; stepsons, Kevin Jones and wife Tara of Mexia and Jacob Jones and wife Skylar of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy and Betty Jones of Donie and Debbie and Colin Pope of Brount; uncle and aunt, Dale and Johnnie Wilson of Groesbeck; and other extended family.
