Linda Koebel Obituary
Linda McCracken Koebel
August 20, 1962 - July 10, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Linda McCracken Koebel, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on July 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace with Jesus.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, George "Shorty" Koebel, who stood by her side with unwavering love. She was the proud and cherished mother of Greg, Michelle (Matthew), and Sarah, and the adoring GiGi to three beautiful grandchildren.
A proud graduate of St. Gertrude High School (Class of 1980) and James Madison University (Class of 1985) Go Dukes! Linda embodied a spirit of warmth, generosity, and boundless energy. She was the picture of selflessness, always putting her family, friends, and community before herself. Her dedication to volunteering, especially with the French Food Festival benefiting the Little Sisters of the Poor, was just one of the many ways she gave back to those around her.
Linda's presence lit up every room she entered, and her joy was infectious. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, and those lucky enough to know her were truly blessed. If there was music playing, you could always find her on the dance floor, embracing life with unmatched enthusiasm.
Linda had a deep and unwavering faith that guided her through life's joys and challenges. She lived with grace, kindness, and trust in God's plan, leaving behind a beautiful example of faith and love for all who knew her.
While we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she so freely gave. Linda's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Linda's family will gather with friends at Bliley's – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. on Monday, July 14th from 4 to 7 p.m., where Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
A service to honor and remember Linda will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, on Tuesday, July 15th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in her memory.
You will be very missed, Linda. You danced through life with love and laughter, and your spirit will continue to shine in all of us.
