Linda LaFever Obituary

DYER CHAPEL-Linda Lee LaFever passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 in Winston Salem, NC. She was born May 12, 1944 in Ironton, Ohio. Linda was a homemaker and a special needs bus driver for many years, later serving as a bus aide before retiring from the Putnam County Board of Education. Linda had a strong faith in God. She never met a stranger, and opened her home to her family, friends, neighbors, church family and youth groups alike. She truly had a generous spirit and the gift of hospitality.

Linda was preceded in death by parents, Ishmael and Mattie Blankenship Hayes; her husband Arnold Frelan LaFever; a son Michael LaFever, and sisters Patricia Goodwin, Louella Jordan, and Sharon Fliehman.

Linda is survived by her daughter Suzy Petty (Jason) of Tennessee and sons Dennis LaFever (Debbie) of Michigan, Gary LaFever (Margaret) of Tennessee, David LaFever (Helen) of Vermont, Galen LaFever of Florida, and Brent LaFever (Margo) of North Carolina. She is also survived by two sisters Deloris Miller of Michigan and Carrie Cook of Florida and numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Linda’s family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston Salem for their compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the LaFever Family Cemetery, 404 Lafever Cemetery Rd. Cookeville, Tennessee. Pastor Randy Hill will officiate.
