Linda Margaret (McLeod) Lehman (83) passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2025. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21st from 4pm until 5pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory (8201 Hickman Rd. Urbandale, IA 50322) with a memorial service to follow at 5pm. A reception will be held following Linda’s celebration of life at 6pm at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club (1600 Jordan Creek Pkwy West Des Moines, IA 50266). All are welcome! We encourage you to wear florals and bright colors in honor of Linda’s love for flowers, fashion, and flair.
Linda M. McLeod Lehman was born on November 2, 1941, in Rockford, IL, to Ralph and Margaret (Cappel) McLeod. She grew up in the Rockford area and graduated from East High School. Linda went on to study at Illinois State University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.
She began her career as a second-grade teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools before taking time to raise her two daughters. Once her daughters were older, Linda returned to the workforce, holding positions at Primrose Designs, Mueller Yurgae, and Vermillion Group.
On August 3, 1963, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Brad Lehman. The couple made their home in West Des Moines, IA, where they raised their two daughters and enjoyed a loving marriage that spanned 60 years. Linda and Brad shared countless memories, from enjoying dinners with close friends to exploring the highways, visiting their Florida condo, and spending cherished time with their five grandchildren and grand puppies. They were inseparable and the best of friends.
Linda was sassy and spunky, with a zest for life. She had an unwavering love for fashion. Whether it was handbags, jewelry, or shoes; you name it, she loved it. Linda was always impeccably put together, with a fondness for pink lipstick and perfectly manicured nails. Her infectious smile, laughter, and caring nature made her a beloved friend to many.
She adored spending time with her grandchildren, often taking her granddaughters shopping and attending her grandsons' sporting events (weather dependent, ha). Linda was the self-appointed peacekeeper between Brad and the referees at those games. She always enjoyed socializing with friends over a glass of her favorite chardonnay (with a side of ice, of course) and was known for her creative cooking, especially during the holidays when she loved hosting family gatherings. In addition, Linda had a special love for dogs, and her grand puppies were a source of great joy in her life.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Margaret McLeod; her husband, Brad Lehman; her brother, Terry McLeod; and her beloved dogs, Brandy and Sir Regionald, as well as grand puppies Cody, Bogey, and Rooney.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Nick) Fischer and Mindy (Barry) Sebastian; her five grandchildren, Kenzie and Lauren Fischer, Madalyn, Bennett, and Cooper Sebastian; her sisters-in-law, Lin McLeod and Barb (Mike) Pearce; her nieces, Julie Doremire and Megan Johnson; her nephews, Scott McLeod and Jason Pearce; and her grand puppies, Winnie, Louie, Kobe, and Manny.
