Linda Malloy Obituary

Linda M. Malloy
Linda M. Malloy, 77, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, from complications related to long COVID. Born on September 19, 1948, in New York City, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Jim and Kay McGowan.
Linda attended Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford and earned an associate's degree from Cardinal Cushing College in Boston, Massachusetts, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to education and service.
She devoted countless hours as a volunteer for the Bridgeport Catholic Diocesan Council and the Darien Public Schools, served on the Board of Directors for the Middlesex Swim Club, and contributed to preserving history through her work with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. Linda was also a frequent blood donor, embodying compassion and generosity throughout her life.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Kay McGowan, and her sister, Karen Ann McGowan. She is survived by her loving husband, of 55 years, Kevin James Malloy; her daughter, Kathryn Malloy Possidento, and husband Joseph Possidento; her son, Kevin James Malloy, and wife Danielle Malloy; and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Kenzie Possidento.
Linda, affectionately known as "Grammy" to her grandchildren, found joy in following Matthew's sporting events on Gamechanger, traveling to Kenzie's gymnastics competitions, and Face Timing with her grandchildren. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family on boating trips, proudly serving as the official fish counter during fishing adventures on Long Island Sound and in Siesta Key, Florida.
She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Linda's legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT 06902.

My sincere condolences to you and your family Kevin. I have many fond memories and moments shared with Linda. I remember meeting her for the first time in Hilda and Louie´s apt. She was wearing a wine colored turtleneck and looked beautiful. May she rest peacefully now. With love, Marilyn

To Linda´s Family and Friends,
I am deeply saddened to read news of her passing in the Stamford Advocate.
We were neighbors in Darien and our children went to Holmes School. I think of all of you every time I pass your former home on Middlesex Road in Darien.
Please accept my deepest sympathy on her passing. May
Linda rest in everlasting peace.
Sincerely,

Carl Shanahan

Dearest Kevin, Katie & Kevin, I loved Linda so very much. Her family always came first. She was so proud to be their Mom and Grandma. How blessed you were to have had her. And Kevin her husband - they were made for each other - match made in heaven. I will miss her more than words can ever say. We grew up together, laughed, cried, slept at each others houses, boated together. She was the most giving, loving and kind person I know. I am confident Linda is in heaven with her parents and her sister Karen and all the Angels that she knew and helped. With my deepest sympathy and love, Betty Hogan
