Linda Irene Martin, 75, of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed peacefully on November 28th, 2025, at Maple Manor Christian Home, Sellersburg, Indiana. She was surrounded by loving family and friends for her passing after a long battle with MS and cancer.
Linda was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on September 10th, 1950, to Harry Estil Downing and Fannie Lee Downing (Holley). Throughout her life, she always put everyone else first. From caring for her siblings growing up to pouring love into a blended family, to becoming one of the most caring mothers and nurses this world will ever know.
She left this world better than she found it.
She graduated from Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky in 1969, Jefferson County Vocational School with her LPN degree in 1972, Indiana University with an RN degree in nursing in 1988, and her master's degree from Webster University in 1993.
She received "Nurse of the Year" from Indiana University in 1991, which she considered her greatest professional accomplishment.
Linda worked for over 40 years in nursing, retiring as a registered nurse, positively affecting many lives. In her career, she worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in
Jeffersonville, Indiana, Kutz & Kleinert Hand Group, Kroger Distribution, CNA Insurance, and Corvel Rehab, in Louisville, Kentucky.
She is survived by her children: Michael Delano Martin and Gregory Wayne Martin. Stepchildren: Jeffrey Clark Martin and Kathy Darlene Martin. Grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth Martin, Kaden Wayne Martin, Kaiser Wayne Martin, Keanu Wayne Martin, Ashley Dawn Putz (Martin), Michael Gregory Martin, and Casey Ernest Garcia. Siblings: Carolyn Sue Zelesky (Downing) and Harry Michael Downing. Survived also by beloved nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, extended family, close friends, and wonderful neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delano Martin, her parents, Harry Estil Downing and Fannie Lee Downing (Holley) and her sister, Jill Ann Forsythe (Downing).
No service will be held at this time. Linda will soon rejoin her husband at his side at the Martin Family Cemetery in Mousie, Kentucky. A celebration of life may be scheduled at
a later date.

These two organizations have been instrumental in Linda's comfort and care for the past two and a half years. Their love and exceptional care are undeniable for patients in need.
