Linda May, 86, of Waukegan, IL, died of natural causes on September 18, 2025.

Linda was a compassionate woman fiercely dedicated to her family and friends, especially her grandsons. She was born in Cadiz, OH in 1939 to Phyllis and Max Wallace, the second oldest of ten children. After attending business school in Columbus, Ohio, Linda followed two of her sisters to Washington, D.C. where she worked at National Airport for several different airlines including Capitol, United, and Piedmont. In February of 1965 her sister Sandy introduced her to Robert A. (Bob) May, who was serving in the United States Navy, and they married in May of that year. After marriage and children, Linda's primary career was that of a Navy wife and mother. When able, Linda continued to hold jobs outside of the home working in bookkeeping for various companies in California and Illinois.

Linda was an avid reader with a penchant for true crime and World War II. She loved to crochet, embroider, and quilt. She enjoyed road trips, and drives in the country. Her greatest pleasure was spending as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.

Linda was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 49 years, siblings Faith, Rebecca, Jane, and Keith and four brothers-in-law; she is survived by her children Robin (Paul), April, Ryan (Maria), and Amity; her beloved grandsons Reagan and Connor; siblings Sandy, Stanley, Melora, Kevin, and Tenley; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless others whom she loved and who loved her, including her honorary son Curtis.

A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2025 at Deersville Faith and Fellowship Church in Deersville, OH at 11 a.m. A gathering will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Patterson Union Cemetery in Deersville. A private remembrance will be held in Waukegan, IL on November 9, 2025.
