Linda Mondo passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 with her family by her side. Born on September 29, 1943 in New Haven, CT, Linda's life was a testament to the power of faith and family.
Linda grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Walton High School. She began working in the city and rode the train daily where she met her future sister-in-law. Attending a dance together, her future husband Tom drove them. He saw Linda and decided to stay and that's how it all began. Dancing always remained a cherished pastime between them.
Linda and Tom began their life together in the Bronx, but eventually moved to Mahopac in 1972. As Linda raised her family, she worked various jobs. She enjoyed her time working for the Mahopac school system. Her time at Town of North Castle, Armonk was most fulfilling as an Administrator for the Highway Department.
Linda's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She was the heart of the home as she cooked beloved dishes for her family. Each family member had a special request that Linda prepared with care from Meatballs to Eggplant Parm. During the fall, she also always enjoyed perfecting her apple and pumpkin pies.
After the loss of her husband, Linda's resilience shown through, she turned to YouTube to learn new skills and often called upon her daughter Lillian, her personal "Helpdesk" for guidance. Her leisure time was filled with things she loved: Netflix movies, engrossing books, the simple pleasure of popcorn and the serenity of church. She delighted in the sweetness of corn on the cob from the local farm stand and the comfort of a cool breeze while sitting on the porch. Her grandchildren though were the jewels in her crown and she cherished every moment spent with them, proudly cheering them on at various events. The recent arrival of her great-grandson Noah brought her immense joy.
Linda had also become an avid runner and it was not uncommon for the neighbors to see her running around the neighborhood, sometimes twice daily and even on the Putnam Trailway. She cherished visits to Arthur Avenue and upheld family traditions.
Her faith was a guiding light as an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist. Those who knew Linda would describe her as friendly, faithful and a loving woman whose devotion to her family knew no bounds.
Linda is survived by her three loving children, Victor Mondo (Shelly) of Orfield, PA and Lillian Walsh (Bill) of Sea Girt NJ and Julie Pietrini (Tony) of Southbury, CT. She's also survived by five cherished grandchildren, Francesca, Alexa (Devon), Nicholas, Nicolina, Billy and one great grandchild Noah.
Additionally, Linda is survived by two sisters-in-laws, Sheila Mondo of FL and Theresa O'Neill of NY. Linda Mondo's legacy is one of love and the enduring strength of family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the heart of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
