Linda Marie Rossberg

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Linda Marie Rossberg, age 67, of Chocolay Township, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Born September 18, 1955, in Marquette, a daughter of Edward Jack and Bertha Irene (Haapala) Rossberg, Linda was raised in Chassell and graduated from the Chassell High School in 1973. She continued her education at Michigan Technological University for two years before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics and continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she received her Master's Degree in Public Administration. Linda started the Marquette-Alger Resolution Services (MARS) and was the Director of that mediation program for many years but spent most of her career with the Marquette County Cooperative Extension Service, ultimately as its Director, retiring in 2013. Throughout her career Linda continued her educational pursuits and received a certification in financial planning and taught money management classes and volunteered to help the elderly with their tax preparation. She married Gary Loehr in 1990 and they made their home in Marquette right on Lake Superior and spent countless days on the beach. In their leisure moments, she and Gary also enjoyed motorcycling and sailing together on their catamaran. Linda also enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and playing cribbage, particularly with her nieces and nephews.
Linda is survived by her sisters, Kathy (John) Whitegon of Hudson, WI, Susan Rossberg (Keith Shepard) of Littleton, CO, and Lori (Mark) Voss of Hudson, WI; a step-son, Aaron (Nikki) Loehr of Marquette; grandsons, Jacob and Eivin; nephews, Shawn Rossberg of Aurora, CO and Ryan Voss of Hudson, WI; nieces, Maija Whitegon of Hopkins, MN and Lauryn Voss of Hudson, WI; several cousins and many friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary.
Linda was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette and friends may call at Messiah Lutheran on Thursday, April 13, beginning at 10:00 am. The service will begin at 11:00 am with the Rev. Molly Eversoll officiating.
A reception will follow in Magnuson Hall.
