Linda E. Sides, 79, of Jackson, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by her family, at home.
She was born April 12, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, to Howard and Louise Meyer McCain. She was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School.
Linda married Jerry L. Sides on January 14, 1967, at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, also the church where they both accepted Christ and were baptized.
Jerry’s work in industrial management took the family to several different states. During those years, Linda primarily worked as a medical coder in healthcare. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and flower gardening.
After retirement, Linda and Jerry returned to Jackson and rejoined New Bethel Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jerry Sides of Jackson; children, Lisa (Steve) Harvey of St. Louis; Amy (Bobby) Barnett of Pinckneyville, Illinois; Chris Sides of Jackson; six grandchildren: Joby Crabtree, Brock and Brandon Eaker, Brittani Sights, Colton Shoulders, and Grant Sides; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Zachary Rohman will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Pocahontas.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests New Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
