Linda Smith's Funeral Service

Linda Ann Smith, aged 80, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in Pryor, Oklahoma. Born on January 25, 1944, in Alhambra, California, Linda was a cherished figure in her community and renowned for her warm spirit and dedication to others.

Linda began her career in a coffee shop in Pryor but devoted most of her professional life to caring for patients and residents in various nursing homes. Throughout her career, Linda was an unwavering advocate for her patients, ensuring they received the compassion and respect they deserved. Her hard work continued until she was 75, demonstrating her commitment and strong work ethic.

Known affectionately as "Granny," Linda was not only a hard worker but also a vibrant member of her community. Her lively personality and penchant for conversation made her a beloved figure as she would often make a point to tell everyone in a place hello before leaving.

An excellent cook, Linda delighted family and friends with her signature dishes, particularly her famous egg noodles, yeast rolls, and pumpkin pies. Her creative pursuits included crocheting, where she lovingly crafted baby blankets and booties. She had a passion for music, often singing hymns from the church hymnal, which reflected her faith and love for the church community. Linda enjoyed spending time with her sisters, going out to eat with family and friends, and creating treasured memories with her beloved grandchildren. She had a great affection for classic western films, particularly enjoying the works of John Wayne, and found joy in traveling, a pastime she embraced with her late husband, Galen, who was the love of her life.

Linda is survived by her children, Linda Toler, Barbara Price, Leon Toler and wife Tasha, all of Locust Grove, OK, Leona Pippin and husband James of Claremore, OK, Edgar Toler of Tampa, FL, and Sylvester Toler Jr. of Collinsville, OK; brother, George McKinzie and wife Sandra of Pryor, OK; sisters, Carol Riley of Pryor, OK, and Lily Lazorchak and husband Steve of NJ; as well as 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret (Lacy) McKinzie; husband, Galen Smith; son, William Toler; sisters, Penny, Martha, and Kathy; brother, Robert McKinzie; and nephew, Joey Toler.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. A funeral service will take place Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Shipman's Funeral Home with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens in Claremore with Leon Toler, Edgar Toler, Sylvester Toler Jr., Brandon Toler, George McKinzie, and James Pippin.
