Linda S. “Granny” Smith, 80, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at White County Rehab and Nursing. She was born on December 25, 1945 in Norris City the daughter of Claude and Lois Marie (Bryant) Brooks. Linda’s hobbies were cooking and babysitting.
Linda is survived by her children, Billie Turner of Harrisburg and Derrick (Misty Jennings) of Carmi; grandchildren, Jeremy Dwayne (Jessica Barker) Jones, Joshua (Kaitlyn) Jones, Nick Page, John Page, Angel Dinwiddie, and Wyatt Jones; great-grandchildren, Maisie, Margo, Jaiden, Milo, Nauticy, and Jaidie Jade; siblings, Dennis (Becky) Brooks, Allen (Glenda) Brooks, Steven Brooks, Marilyn James, Dorothy Brown, and Betty Martin (John) Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Starla Dinwiddie and Shawn Jones; grandson, Shawn Dale Jones; siblings, Raymond “Joe” Brooks, Virginia Chapman, Carol Brooks, and Fay Drone; brother-in-law, Donald James.
No services for Linda S. “Granny” Smith, 80, of Carmi will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821, to assist the family with expenses. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is assisting the family with arrangements.
