Linda L. Tipton Andrews Sutphin

Linda L. Tipton Andrews Sutphin passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, due to complications from cardiac arrest.

A Washington County native, Linda was born on December 6, 1948, to the late Albert and Mamie Tipton. She graduated from Jonesborough High School in 1966 at the age of 17 and went on to earn her accounting degree from ETSU, graduating cum laude. She later became a Certified Public Accountant. Linda worked in accounting for ITT, Fleming Foods, a local CPA firm, and AmeriSource, and also served as a secretary in Marketing at General Shale before joining the State of Tennessee, where she worked until her retirement in June 2011.

Linda was a lifelong member of the Jonesborough Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs and the Jonesborough Senior Citizens Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Andrews; brothers-in-law Gene Sutphin and Larry Barker; and nephews Chris Barker and Travis Dugger.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Sam Sutphin; sisters Helen Barker and Charlotte Collins (Charles); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Linda's family will receive friends from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m., officiated by Minister Jeremy Lynd. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dallas Hensley, Cade Hensley, Wendell Hanks, Tony Keys, Jonathan Reel, Jonathan Troutman, Martin Howard, and Darren Crawford. Honorary pallbearers include the members of Jonesborough Church of Christ and friend, Cheryl Pridgen.
