It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Jean Swanson (nee Smith) who departed this life on December 25, 2025 at the age of 76. Linda was a beloved mother, aunt and grandmother, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity.
Born on April 27, 1949 in Joliet, IL, Linda enjoyed her career in the mortgage industry and after retirement she enjoyed her British TV shows and time spent with her daughters and her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her dear niece Sydney whom she would see weekly for shopping and lunching. Linda was a dedicated mother and grandmother.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Danielle and Denise (James) McKinney; Kurt W. Decman, father of her children; grandchildren, Lynnette Huml, Lee, Mary Jean and Declan Mckinney; sister-in-law, Darlene Mahoney; and several nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories and legacy she leaves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Swanson; beloved parents, Isabel (nee Bressler) and Ralph Gersich; and her sisters, Jean (Richard Marion) and Claire (Edward Grezetich); and brother, Daniel Mahoney.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at a later date this year. We would like to thank Unity Hospice for their support in comforting her at the end of her life. Also, Tezak Funeral home for their kindness and guidance in this time of sorrow.
Linda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May Linda rest in peace.
