The Story of Linda
Linda Ruth Buckles Tebo was born in
Louisville, Kentucky on July 20th, 1937 to Thomas Ephraim Buckles and Frances Leona Doyle Buckles. Linda lived with her mother until 1952, when she and her sisters were sent to live with their father in California. She attended St Michael's Catholic school, then went to St Mary's Catholic high school, and graduated in 1956.
She and Roger Tebo started dating when sophomores in high school and became engaged after graduating from high school. They married at St Michael's Church in
Los Angeles, Ca in June of 1957. Their first child was born in May 1958, when Linda was 20 years old.
Linda began working at Crocker Citizens Bank in Leimert Park, CA as a teller. Soon thereafter she was promoted to Chief Teller at 21 years of age, which made her the 1st woman chief teller and also the youngest chief teller ever at that point in time.
Their 2nd child was born and Linda and Roger purchased their first home when they were 23. It was decided eventually that Linda would stop working and stay home to take care of their growing family consisting of 4 children: Gregory, Mark, Corryne and Danielle.
They moved to Friendly Hills, in
Whittier, CA, where the kids attended school. In 1978 Linda began to work at their off-road business started by Roger Tebo 10 years prior, called Dune Buggy Enterprises and subsequently Funrunner. Linda helped manage the financial side of the business as well as inventory and customer sales and contributed greatly to its success.
Roger and Linda, after many years of hard work, determined it was time to close the business and in 2005 they sold their house in Whittier. They began traveling to Boise, where they found their new home in Banbury Meadows, Eagle ID, and made 12 round trips pulling a loaded trailer for each trip from Whittier CA to Eagle ID.
Linda and Roger became very involved with their church, Holy Apostles, in Meridian ID and volunteered for many activities with the Knights of Columbus. Linda was recognized for her dedication and made an honorary Knight, the first woman to have that distinction. Linda and Roger also did Monday morning coffee and donuts after mass, assisted at the parish retreats and pancake breakfasts as well as the Lenten Friday Fish Fries. They worked closely with fellow Knight, Tom Sorge, who organized serving meals to guests in Boise. Linda and Roger also participated in visiting veterans, singing with the accompaniment of musicians and other singers.
Linda is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roger; children Gregory and wife Julie of Fallbrook, CA; Mark and wife Vicki of Jefferson, Maine; Corryne of Boise, ID and Danielle and husband Mike Avril of
Meridian, ID; seven grandchildren, Samantha and husband Tyler Morris of Ojai CA; Dustin and wife Cynthia of Fallbrook, CA; Annie and husband Josh Nieto of Fallbrook, CA; William of Boise, ID; Nathan and wife Jane of Boise, ID; Sophia of Boise, ID and Thomas of Boise, ID; and eight great-grandchildren.
My dearest friend and partner, I will always love you and think of you all my remaining days; so long for now, until we meet again. Thanks for all your selfless loving help. Rog.
