Linda Suzanne Tochtrop (née Phillips), a longtime resident of Josephville, Missouri, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on November 5, 2025, at the age of 75.
Linda was born on June 15, 1950, the fourth of Ivan and Margaret Phillips' seven children. On July 26, 1969, Linda married the love of her life, Richard Tochtrop. Together, they built a home that would be the center of their family's life for generations and raised four daughters, the joy of her heart.
Every aspect of Linda's life flowed from her love for God and His Word. A prayer warrior, she prayed "without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17) as she went about her days in constant conversation with her Lord and prayed for each member of her family and many others daily. She raised her daughters to know and love Christ and nurtured the faith of her grandchildren through conversations, Bible studies, and her faithful example. Her love for Jesus overflowed into her love for others and her quiet generosity that touched many lives. She was a dedicated member of Faith Christian Family Church in Warrenton, MO.
With unwavering devotion to her family, Linda viewed her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother as her highest vocation. She rarely missed a moment in the lives of those she loved. Whether it was a school performance, graduation, or sporting event, she was always there, cheering proudly. She shared her delight in playing cards, working on puzzles, and quilting with her daughters and grandchildren. To Linda, any time her family met together was a celebration, and she had a special gift for hosting gatherings-especially family holidays, graduation parties, and weekends at the lakehouse, all of which created lasting memories for her whole family. A diligent homemaker, she pursued excellence in everything to which she put her hands. She was a rock of support to her family through any difficult time and a steady, joyful presence at every family event.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Richard Tochtrop; four children, Tracy (Jeffrey) Schroer, Sheri (Brian) Pearia, Cindy (Matthew) Willbrand, and Jodi (Ryan) Smyth; four siblings, Barbara Hunsel, Bill Phillips, Bob (Sherry) Phillips, Don (Carol) Phillips; sister-in-law, Rita Phillips; eleven grandchildren, Kylie (Karl) Berg, Austin Diehl, Brooke Diehl, Mercedes Schroer, Judah Schroer, Levi Schroer, Olivia (Nathan) Brackenridge, Alexis Willbrand, Mirabella Willbrand, Eva Smyth, Maya Smyth; one great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Berg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ivan Phillips, mother, Margaret Phillips (neé Orf), siblings, Jerry Phillips and Rick Phillips, sister-in-law, Christina Phillips, and brother-in-law, Robert Hunsel.
Linda's legacy of faith in God and His promises and her love for those around her will live on in all who are blessed to have known her.
