Butte native and longtime Seattle resident, Linda Louise Winston passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Crest Nursing Home in Butte. She was born in Butte Sunday, March 3, 1940 to Archie C. and Linda Susanna (Silvonen) Lewis. She was raised and educated in Butte, graduating from Butte High School in 1958. She also attended Montana Tech.
Linda worked for the Montana Power Company from 1959 until 1962 when she took a computer operator position at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. It was in Seattle where she married Harry L. Winston in 1966. They were married nearly 40 years when he preceded her in death in 2005. Also preceding her in death are two step-children, Russell Winston and Harry Winston Jr, as well as her brother David Lewis.
She is survived by her son, Kirk Winston of Seattle, step-daughter, Cynthia Symon of Las Vegas, grandchildren: Shavonna Winston, Kayla Thomas, Tyreke Winston, Aalliyah Winston, Naomi Winston, Christopher Symon and Cynthia Shropshire and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters and brothers, Carol and Don Stever of
Prescott, Arizona, Susie and Walter Harvey of
Port Orchard, Washington, Daniel Lewis of
East Helena, Montana and Russell and Joy Lewis of Castley Rock, Colorado.
Linda savored life, she enjoyed art and was an accomplished oil painter. She was very athletic and had served as a life-guard at Gregson Hot Springs. She fancied herself a chaser of cowboy hats (and the cowboys under them). She was an avid fisherman and prided herself in regularly out-fishing her husband in Puget Sound. She loved her pest and more than anything else she loved her family.
Following Harry's passing, Linda returned to Butte in 2007.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Memorials in memory of Linda may be made to a
charity of the donor's choice.
