Dickerson Mortuary announces the passing of Mr. LIndburgh Shipman, 77, who transitioned on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Beloved Charles “Lindburgh” Shipman. was freed to once again be at peace on Tuesday night, December 16, 2025. He was born on May 3, 1948, to parents Carrie Elizabeth McMillan Shipman and Gaston Shipman, Sr. in Fayetteville, NC. Upon graduation from high school, he proudly served his country for 12 years in the United States Air Force. Once that phase of his life’s journey concluded, he worked at Amoco Oil Company and finally decided to spend his years leading to retirement with the United States Postal Service. Even in retirement, he remained active until a progressive decline in health forced him to be less mobile. Considering his consistently classy, suave attire and his service to others, it is no surprise that his favorite acts of kindness included giving to Good Will Industries and volunteering with the American Red Cross.
“Dad or Uncle Lin,” as he was most often and affectionately called, leaves to cherish his memories: Son Jamal Rashad Shipman, Charleston, SC; Grandson, Jamal Rashad Shipman, Jr; Sister, Judy Arlene Gachette, Hiram, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Lindburgh was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
