Lindsey Howard Sampson Sr., 80, of Houston, Texas, transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father in eternity on February 9, 2026.
Born December 14, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Elizabeth Sampson, Lindsey built his life in Houston, where he became a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a highly respected general contractor who dedicated his career to construction, taking pride in building with his hands and providing for his family.
He loved hunting, fishing, and time outdoors, where he found peace, but above all, he loved his family....and there was a lot of family. He was the patriarch and was always willing to provide guidance and help whenever he could, a role shaped by his resilience, perseverance, and survival instincts.
He is survived by his children Tonya Leah Sampson, Naomi Lynn Sampson Westgard (Brian Westgard), Iya Cormier, Lindsey Sampson Jr., Crystal Marcella Lyle (John Lyle), Lindsey Olier Barnes, Tatiana Marie "Melissa" Sampson, and stepdaughter Kristina Marie Olier. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren who were the light of his life including: Craig, Gabriel and Serena Canepa, Brandon, Ethan, and Evan Westgard, Iesha Cormier, Erica Hunt, Mya Cormier, Haven and Lundynn Sampson, Mason Rossyion, Desmond and Emmett Lyle, Milan and Elijah Barnes, Faren and Leiana Thompson, and his great-grandchildren Dean Canepa, Audrey Hunt, O'Riah Peters, and Journee Peters and Godson Dunte' Seldon.
He is also survived by his siblings: Janie Mitchell, Lillie (Deann) Garrett, Earnest (Greg) Sampson Jr., Raynord Sampson, Pamela Travis, Connie Richard, and Wanda Selden.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, at New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 3221 Bain St. Houston, Texas 77026. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with services beginning at 1:00 pm.
Lindsey will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family.
