Linnea E. Nordin

1956 - 2023

Linnea E. Nordin passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning, August 6, 2023. She was born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1956. She grew grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois and attended Downers Grove South H.S., Class of 1974. She attended Northern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. Linnea combined her love of cooking, respected management skills and tender compassion for others in pursuing a long and successful career in senior care facility food service management, including long tenures with Morrison and Elevate Care Brentwood in Riverwoods, IL. She retired in March of this year.

Linnea was predeceased by her parents, Dayton and Ruth Nordin, her brother Kenneth D. (Virginia) Nordin, and her sister Diane Ruth (James) Nordin Maloney. She is survived by the love of her life Todd Peterson; her brother David W. (Mary Mennella) Nordin; her nephews Joel N. (Susan Van Gilder) Maloney, Dayton (Leslie) Nordin, and Steven Nordin; her nieces Katherine Linnea (Dennis Hunke) Maloney, Kendra Nordin (Eric) Beato, and Cristina (Kristen) Nordin; and her grand nephews and nieces.

Linnea loved to travel, and enjoyed restaurants where the chefs loved their work. She was a lifelong Cubs fan, described Wrigley Field as her true "happy place", and was a dedicated cat mom to her rescues Wrigley, Ernie and Addison.

A memorial gathering for Linnea will be held on Saturday, September 2 from 1 PM to 2:30 PM at Benson Family Funeral Home at 3224 W. Montrose Ave, Chicago IL 60618. All are welcome to attend.
