Lino Piña Obituary

Lino Gerardo Pina or "Gera" as his friends knew him, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on the 7th of November, 2025, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on the 19th of December, 1945, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Lino lived a full life marked by passion, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Lino's journey began in the vibrant city of Monterrey, where he was born to parents Lino and Maria De Jesus Pina. He grew up alongside his siblings Humberto, Ramiro, Jose Rogelio, Rita, and Juana, who preceded him in death, as did his beloved wife of 27 years, Gilberta. Lino's early years were filled with the close-knit warmth of a large family, a trait that he carried with him throughout his life.

In his professional life, Lino was known for his dedication and craftsmanship as a butcher in the Meat Department at HEB Grocery store, where he served the community for over three decades. Even after retirement, he continued to share his expertise and jovial spirit, working part-time at Randall's and Fiesta Grocery stores. His colleagues remember him not just for his skill but also for his ability to make every workday enjoyable.

Lino's love for life was evident in his many interests. He was an avid music lover, a graceful dancer, and the life of any gathering. His social nature led him to regularly meet friends for breakfast or coffee, creating a circle of camaraderie that lasted throughout his life. Lino was also deeply involved in the lives of his grandchildren, whom he adored. He never missed an opportunity to attend his granddaughter's dance recitals. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and family.

Family was the cornerstone of Lino's world. He is survived by his son, Jose Pina and wife, Yvette Rodriguez; his daughters, Maria Andrews and husband, Donald W. Jr, and Guadalupe Angel Pina and husband, Humberto Javier Valdez. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jacob, Jazmyn, Matthew, Maya, Angela Elizabeth, Blanca, Humberto, and Erick, as well as his thirteen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the love and lessons he imparted.

Loving, kind, and faith-filled are the words that best describe Lino. His unwavering faith was a guiding light in his life and an inspiration to all who knew him. He faced the world with a kind heart and an open mind, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.

Lino Gerardo Pina's departure leaves behind a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit remains a beacon of love and joy. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of cherished moments, laughter, and an abundance of love. His memory will live on, not just in the stories told but in the everyday acts of kindness he inspired in us all. Rest in peace, Lino. Your legacy endures.
