Linus Gerald (Butch) Reicks, age 83, passed away in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 23, 2026.
He was born on January 7, 1943 to Ben and Hilda (Bierman) Reicks and was the 7th child born. Butch joined sisters Bernice, Germaine and Monica along with brothers Alfred, Walter and Bernard on the family farm in Petersburg, Nebraska. He graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Petersburg in 1961.
Butch married Sandra Morehead in May of 1963 and to this union they had children Edward, Bobbie Jo and Barbara. They divorced in July of 1970.
He married his current wife Candice of 54 years in July of 1971 and to this union was born sons, Brian in May of 1974 and Duane in November of 1977.
Butch was employed by Purina Mills/Land O Lakes livestock feed division in 1961 based in Omaha, Nebraska. He rose through the company as production supervisor, retiring in Henderson, Colorado in January of 2011, after 50 years of service. The last 2 years he received congratulatory letters from Purina Mills/Land O Lakes for being the most senior employee world-wide which was something that he was extremely proud of.
He was a faithful catholic and enjoyed helping at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, Kansas. Butch and Candy renewed their vows on their 44th wedding anniversary on July 2, 2015, blessed by Fr. Norbert and Fr. Kyle.
Butch enjoyed working on any kind of engine, wood working projects and just about anything that needed fixing. Driving the old mountain roads in Colorado and Wyoming especially on one of his 3 motorcycles in the Rocky Mountains. He loved visiting everything that had to do with the early settlers of the old west. Butch also enjoyed the old John Deere tractors and helping his sons restore one. He considered Goodland his hometown and truly the last place he wanted to be. Butch and Candy have many cherished friends there and consider them as family as they helped with Butch's Alzheimer's journey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, sisters and infant twin daughters, Christine and Jodene Reicks.
Butch leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Candace Hill Reicks; children, Edward Vincent Reicks (Charlene) and their children, Joseph Dew (Megan), Jonathan Reicks (Jessico), Jeffrey Reicks (Harmony), Joshua Reicks (Kyla) and Jessica Reicks Murray (Allen), Bobbie Jo Marie (Toni Pope, Barbara Joan Reicks Ramos (Julio) and their children, Stephanie Stacey (Charles), Jose Antonio Reicks (Roxie), Victor Reicks (Sandra) and Vidal Reicks (Tasha), Brian Patrick Reicks (Amie) and their children, Telanie Alexis Reicks and Landon James Reicks (Taitem); Duane David Reicks, and his son Patrick Aiden Reicks and Patrick's mother, Breanne Reicks Oliver (Gavin); many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be held later this spring in Goodland, KS at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
